West Ham midfielder Declan Rice says he is aiming to play for a club that has a good chance of winning trophies at some point in his career.

The England international was talking about whether staying at the Hammers would leave him in the same situation as Tottenham’s Harry Kane, who has yet to have any titles to show for his illustrious career. He stated he does have ambitions of lifting trophies:

“As a footballer, you only get one career and it goes by very quick, You want to be successful for club and country. I think it’s an important thing to win trophies. There’s talk of Harry Kane at Spurs and what he should be doing, obviously he can do whatever he wants.”

“He’s going to win trophies we all know that. I think that’s something I want to aim for as well. I’m only 21 but to get those highs of your career you need to win stuff and that’s what I want to do.”

Of course, West Ham fans shouldn’t read too much into this, as he could simply be harbouring ambitions of winning things with the Irons, but the comments will certainly not end speculation regarding potential interest from Chelsea.

Reports suggest that the Blues may revive their interest in the 21-year-old when the January transfer window opens, although West Ham are likely to hold out for a very high fee even if Frank Lampard’s side do make a formal approach for the midfielder in the New Year.
