West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin either this month or at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old, who has also been linked with Arsenal, is thought to be valued at £60m, but supporters on Twitter find it hard to believe that the Hammers would pay anywhere near that amount for the striker:
West Ham will never spend that much on a player

Isn’t Jonathan David available for 35/40? Think that would be a much better option personally

…knock the 0 off the £60m and that’s what Gilbert + Sullivan would offer the Toffees. A non-starter if ever there was one🤦♂️

It could well be the case that West Ham are tracking Calvert-Lewin, but that’s not the same thing as being ready to table an offer for the England international.
Considering that Calvert-Lewin scored 21 goals in all competitions last season, he would be an excellent addition to the squad but his price tag is way beyond the Irons’ financial means.
With West Ham needing to strengthen up front before the January transfer window shuts, you would have to think that they will move on to other options pretty quickly, to ensure the club doesn’t miss out on more realistic targets.
