Manchester City have been regularly scouting Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz, according to reports in the German media.
The 18-year-old has been a standout performer in the Bundesliga this season, having scored four goals in five league games. He has also attracted interest from Bayern Munich as well as Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal.
Some City fans on Twitter rate Wirtz very highly but many are also questioning why the club are considering signing another midfielder:
hope we get him immense player

With Kevin De Bruyne not getting any younger, and Bernardo Silva still expected to leave if the right offer is received, a changing of the guard will happen at some point, and it’s likely that Wirtz is being eyed with the future in mind.
Whether the German international is a priority for next summer, it is very unlikely. The player’s father has already said that the midfielder will be staying at Leverkusen for at least two more years. It may be a player that City revisit when he becomes available in 2023.
