Pictures purportedly showing Manchester United’s home kit for the 2022/23 season have leaked out online.
The Adidas produced shirt has gone with a retro look, with a collar and an embossed shield encompassing the United club badge.
Some supporters on Twitter are really liking the design (especially the collar), while others are rather less impressed, with the black stripes on the shoulders being a bone of contention:
I love it and I’m getting it. Let’s go United ❤️

United kit with a collar is an automatic 10/10

I really did want a collared shirt but why couldn’t they have made the stripes white to match literally everything else on the kit.

Whether this is the actual design, we shall have to wait and see. If the shirt is genuine, though, it would fit into what Adidas have been doing with recent kits.
It seems to combine the minimalism of this season’s shirt, with the black stripes from the 2018/19 campaign. The collar is very much, however, a throwback to the old Umbro jerseys of the 90s. Hopefully, going back to a more successful era in the club’s history can also lead to more success on the pitch next season.
