Ex-Manchester United defender Laurent Blanc has batted away claims that he could replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager of the Red Devils.

The Frenchman is currently coaching Qatari side Al-Rayyan, but when asked whether the jobs at Old Trafford or Barcelona would be of interest to him, he replied:

“It is not topical. I am here. I struggled to bring in good players. I enjoy training in Qatar. It will last what it will last, a year, a year and a half, two years, or two months … I don’t know. It is a human adventure. It is not a lack of ambition, but it is a reality. I’m in Qatar and so far that’s what interests me.”

Blanc has a very strong track record as a manager. At his first club Bordeaux, he won the Ligue One title as well as the French League Cup and the French Super Cup on two occasions.

After a brief two-year stint in charge of France, where he guided them to the quarter-finals of Euro 2012, he was appointed Paris Saint-Germain manager in June 2013.

During his time in the French capital, Blanc won three Ligue One titles, two French Cups, three French League Cups and three Super Cups.

Before his latest role at Al-Rayyan, he had been out of work for four and a half years, having been appointed by the Qatari club in December 2020.
