Manchester United pair Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire did not train today ahead of the Champions League clash against Villarreal.
The two players were substituted after picking up injuries against Aston Villa in the 1-0 defeat at the weekend, and asked about their fitness, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was not particularly optimistic about them returning to training soon:
“At the moment, they don’t look ok for Wednesday but let’s see.”
Supporters on Twitter are not hopeful of getting a result after the latest injury news:

I think lindelof can give decent cover for Harry but I am really very concerned about telles, have seen 1 good half of performance vs PSG in his entire tenure so far.

Let’s see how will ole manage this situation. We rarely faced an injury problem like that under him.

Some of the reaction to the injury news is probably a bit over the top as their replacements, Victor Lindelof and Alex Telles, are not exactly poor defenders themselves, and there is nothing to say they won’t do an adequate job tomorrow.
Even so, it isn’t an ideal situation with both Shaw and Maguire out of contention. With the league match against Everton coming hot on the heels of the Villarreal fixture, it remains to be seen whether either player will be fit for the game on Saturday either.
