Rangers came from behind to record a narrow win against relegation strugglers Dundee yesterday afternoon.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side got back level just after the hour mark, with the introduction of Kemar Roofe as a substitute paying instant dividends.
The 29-year-old was left unmarked at the back post and his header was saved by Ian Lawlor before Aaron Ramsey tapped in the equaliser. Supporters on Twitter have been demanding that van Bronckhost use Roofe on a more regular basis:
Massively underrated.. Hopefully him and Ramsey can play a key role in these last 7 games and turn it for us. Don’t care about the performance.. Was all about 3 points today no matter what. Onto the OF

Been saying the same for weeks. Find a way to fit him in. He’s too talented tae be sat on the bench till the 80th minute most weeks.

Love Morelos but Roofe runs in behind and gives a different dimension.

Miles too good to be sitting on the bench week in week out

I know it’s it’s old school but what’s wrong with playing 4-4-2 against teams that sit in… Morelos and Roofe up top. Kent and Sakala out wide.. if 442 was good enough for sir Walter in the league it’s good enough now!

Brian Laudrup highlighted the issue with Roofe a couple of weeks ago. The Gers legend described the forward as a “matchwinner” but he believes he has been a “victim” of van Bronckhorst’s 4-3-3 system.
While Roofe can play out on the wing, he isn’t really a winger and it has meant that he has been restricted to cameos off the bench in recent months. If Alfredo Morelos’s domestic form doesn’t pick up, though, perhaps Roofe could be given a chance from the start through the middle?
