Arsenal have been in contact with the agent of Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez, according to reports in the Italian media.
The Argentinian international is also on Atletico Madrid’s radar and it is believed that he could be available for around €70m (£58.6m) this summer.
There has been a mixed reaction to the reports on Twitter with some fans believing Martinez would be a great signing, while others are not so sure:
Would love him he’s top drawer
But I think he would see himself at a Real/City— Martin Sherlock (@Swiller1988) March 28, 2022
I watch a lot of Inter games as they’re the club i support over in Italy. Lautaro is not good enough. Very overrated.

Not the type of player we need. We need a strong target man who’s got good finishing and is an aerial threat IMO

Yes is a baller

Why not?
He is a great player with potential we need and he can play with or without the ball— Ahmed Saurel (@AsReverb) March 28, 2022
He’s still young, but I’m not sure. He’s been inconsistent this season.

Martinez has thrived playing in a 3-5-2 formation for Inter so there would be question marks over how capable he is of playing as the lone frontman.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta would probably give him a very different role to the one he is used to in Italy. In Arsenal’s system, the no.9 comes deep for the ball and holds up play, allowing the two wingers to play narrower.
Whether Martinez would be able to adapt to that system, it is an open question, and it would be a big gamble if the club decide to shell out a sizeable sum on the 24-year-old.
