Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount got two assists as the Blues eased past Middlesbrough yesterday evening to secure their place in the FA Cup semi-finals.
Some sections of the fanbase have been pretty critical of the England international’s form in recent weeks but supporters on Twitter are hoping last night’s performance will begin to silence the doubters:
The boy is a beast….plus his football sense is matured for a man at his age

The only people that critise mount are the ones that have never been or never will go to a match

There isn’t really much more that Mount can do to win over fans. He is trusted implicitly by manager Thomas Tuchel, and his eight goals and 12 assists in 41 appearances are very decent numbers, especially compared to the rest of his teammates.
Of course, there are always going to be people who feel that the Blues could find an upgrade on the 23-year-old in the transfer market but, as we have seen in recent windows, that is easier said than done.
If Mount continues to perform like he did yesterday, his critics will find it difficult to make any sort of case against him being a regular starter.
