‘Brilliant Performance’ ‘Gonna Be A Monster Under Rangnick’ United Fans Hail ‘Midfield General’ After Chelsea Display

Manchester United delivered a strong defensive performance as they secured a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last night.

Caretaker coach Michael Carrick opted to start three holding midfielders, with Scott McTominay grabbing the headlines for his display, but fans on Twitter have also been crediting Fred for his contribution to the result:

The Brazilian international has been much-maligned since his arrival at Old Trafford for a hefty £47m back in 2018, but he delivered what was arguably one of his best games for the club yesterday evening.

There was that late chance to win the match when Fred failed to capitalise on a mistake made by Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, but that shouldn’t take away from the fact that he put a massive shift in.

It will be interesting to see how he fits into Ralf Rangnick‘s plans now the German’s appointment as the new interim manager has been confirmed.
