United Told They Must Pay More Than 50M If They Want To Sign Cavani’s Successor

Benfica are expected to increase their asking price for striker Darwin Nunez, according to Record.

The Portuguese publication claims that Manchester United are one of the teams interested in the Uruguayan international but, due to the forward’s excellent form, Benfica are now likely to demand a lot more than the €60m (£50m) valuation they had previously placed on the player.

Last month, reports in Italy claimed that United were targeting Nunez as a potential replacement for Edinson Cavani, with the United star’s international teammate having racked up 25 goals in 30 appearances for Benfica this season.

However, the Red Devils won’t be the only Premier League club looking to sign the 22-year-old. West Ham had two bids rejected for the player in the January transfer window, while Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle have also been mentioned as potential suitors.

Benfica, therefore, feel justified in increasing their demands but, at this stage, the Portuguese club have seemingly not yet decided on the new price tag.
