Arsenal Given Big Boost In Attempts To Secure 12.6M Serie A Star Who Is Waiting To ‘Evaluate Any Offers’ In January

Arsenal will have a more than decent chance of landing Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg during the January transfer window, after he stalled on signing a contract extension, according to Il Resto de Carlino.

The Swedish international was linked with the Gunners last month, along with Inter Milan, AC Milan and Napoli, but it was reported at the time that the player was keen to extend his stay at Bologna.

However, the situation has now changed, with Il Resto de Carlino now claiming that Svanberg will “evaluate any offers” he receives from other teams next month.

With his contract set to expire in 2023, Bologna don’t have a lot of room to manoeuvre, and it is believed that the Serie A side will consider bids of between €15m (£12.6m) and €20m (£17m) for the midfielder.

Arsenal do need to reinforce their options in the middle of the park and Svanberg could well be seen as an economical solution to strengthen the squad.
