Arsenal technical director Edu is preparing to make a formal approach for Norwich attacking midfielder Emi Buendia, according to Goal‘s Gunners correspondent Charles Watts.
The Argentine has been on the London club’s radar for over a year but, amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Martin Odegaard, Edu has decided to make an early move for another playmaker.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has already suggested that Arsenal are likely to make offers for two players in the next two to three weeks and it seems Buendia will be one of those.
Norwich are expected to hold out for around £40m for the 24-year-old, who has scored 15 goals and laid on 17 assists this season, helping the Canaries to promotion back to the Premier League.
Buendia is reportedly “keen on making” the switch to the Emirates, which should facilitate a move, although there is no indication that the midfielder will force his way out of Carrow Road. Even so, it may help the Gunners lower the player’s current asking price.
