Ex-Arsenal forward Dennis Bergkamp has become the second Gunners player, after Thierry Henry, to be announced as an inductee for the Premier League Hall of Fame.

Reacting to the news, the Dutch legend said he was extremely happy to be included, saying he loved playing in English football:

“It feels special to be part of a small group of players who got the recognition of playing in the strongest league in the world. I’m honoured. I’m extremely proud if people say that I was one of the first foreign players who added something to the English game. The Premier League most definitely made me a better player. From the moment I arrived in England I’ve embraced the English mentality and passion for football, it suited me and my style of play. Playing every game against good and tough opponents meant I improved all the time. I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.”

Bergkamp scored 87 goals and provided 94 assists in 315 appearances for Arsenal over an eleven-year period, winning four player of the month awards and three Premier League titles in the process.

The former Netherlands international is among seven players who have been confirmed as inductees so far, along with Henry, Roy Keane, Eric Cantona, Alan Shearer, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard.

One more player is expected to be confirmed from a 23-man shortlist, with the decision made based on the combined votes of a Premier League panel and the general public.

Both Bergkamp and Henry are fully deserving of their places on the list, and Gunners supporters will be hoping more players from their club are inducted.
