Chelsea Listed As Shock Candidates To Sign Arsenal Outcast Along With 4 Other Teams

Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been a target for Chelsea until very recently, but they may not move for the 32-year-old in January, despite his availability, according to ESPN.

The Blues were keeping tabs on the striker last summer, with Thomas Tuchel having worked with the player before at Borussia Dortmund, although it seems that the European champions’ interest has cooled.

With that being the case, Aubameyang is likely to move elsewhere if the Gunners decide to sell him next month. Barcelona were candidates before the Gabonese international signed a new contract last year, but they would now find it hard to pay his £250,000 a week wages.

Juventus, Inter and AC Milan are also thought to be in the frame. However, the three Serie A clubs would also need to find a compromise on the player’s salary, with a loan deal also more likely than a permanent transfer.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has not ruled out bringing Aubameyang back in from the cold but that is only likely to happen after AFCON when the rancour over losing the captaincy may have subsided somewhat.
