Chris Wheatley Confirms Arsenal’s Plan To Lodge 35M Bid Following Months Of Talks

Arsenal are “expected to lodge” a £35m bid for Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus at the end of the season, according to Football.London‘s Gunners correspondent Chris Wheatley.

The journalist claims that Edu has been using his close relationship with the player and his agent to help progress talks, after beginning discussions all the way back in November.

City will be willing to let Jesus leave the Etihad in the summer, with the Brazilian international unlikely to extend his contract, which is due to expire in 2023.

However, Wheatley does claim that the Citizens are aiming to give Jesus more game time in the final few weeks of the campaign in order to push up his price tag.

With Edu having made big strides in getting the deal over the line already, it does appear that Arsenal will be Jesus’s favoured destination, and that should make things easier when negotiating the transfer fee with City.
