Celtic Haved Ended Their Pursuit Of 3.8M Rated Midfield Enforcer

Celtic have decided against making a move for Gremio midfielder Fernando Henrique, according to reports in the Scottish media.

The Hoops were first linked with a $5m (£3.8m) bid for the 20-year-old back in October but it is believed that the club have now moved on to other transfer targets.

Japanese midfielders Yosuke Ideguchi and Reo Hatate are expected to make the switch to Parkhead during the January transfer window, which would negate the need for another player in the middle of the park.

It is expected that manager Ange Postecoglou will only sanction transfers for four players next month and Henrique is not one of them.

The links to the Brazilian were somewhat surprising in the first place, considering he hadn’t been a regular starter for Gremio, despite his side struggling against relegation.

Henrique played only 16 games in all competitions last season, including only four in the league. It’s hardly the record of someone who looks ready to make the step up to the Scottish Premiership.
