Brighton & Hove Albion have asked Celtic to pay a £2m fee in order to secure defender Shane Duffy on a season-long loan, according to reports.
The Irish international is said to prefer a move to Parkhead, but there is competition from the likes of West Ham, West Brom and Burnley for the 28-year-old. Supporters on Twitter think the Hoops should just cough up the cash for the centre-back:
Just pay what they want

The is a signing the club are crying out for and they have to make it happen. ??

That’s nothing for a centre half to make history.

We need to go all our for this season. We can worry about everything else next year. This season is about winning and that man will certainly help that.

Seems about right for a player of his value. We pay loan fees for most players we get.

If they agree to discount it from the right to buy price at the end of the loan, it shouldn’t be a problem.

Pay whatever it takes, we can afford it. Would much rather fork out the 6 or £8m that’s been tossed about. He’s a perfect fit for us.

We’ve payed WAY more for less. If Lennon thinks he’s going to majorly help the defence (as I think it would) it’s a no brainier. FFS Celtic get the deal done.

Duffy = 10, simple as that, this deal has to be done?

Recent reports suggest that Duffy is at odds with Brighton regarding his future. The Seagulls would prefer to sell him outright in order to bring in some cash but the player is very keen on moving to the club he supported growing up.
Considering the importance of strengthening the club’s centre-back options, Celtic would be wise not to quibble too much when it comes to paying such a fee for a defender, who could potentially make a huge difference in the Hoops’ quest for ten in a row,
