Everton have released striker Joshua King, with there likely to be a number of clubs pursuing the 29-year-old’s signature on a free transfer.
The ex-Manchester United academy player was heavily linked with Celtic when his former manager at Bournemouth, Eddie Howe, was still in the running for the Hoops job.
However, supporters on Twitter have been debating whether the Scottish club would still have a chance of snapping up the striker, even if Howe is no longer heading to Parkhead:
No brainer on a free IMO. Need a striker and he would do well up here I think. That being said, a premier league club will snap him up easy before we even know he’s available.

No chance he’d sign for us. At this stage rangers are more attractive ?

We’ll miss out on all the good free transfers cause we won’t have a manager ?

No for me honestly wages would be very high and he’s been pretty poor for a couple of seasons

King would certainly be a good addition to the squad. He’s not that old, and can play right across the front three but, as some fans have pointed out, there are a number of obstacles to overcome.
The Norwegian international is likely to be a target for a number of English Premier League clubs, such as West Ham, and the player’s wage demands could price them out of a deal. Even so, it would be interesting to see whether he’d be open to moving north of the border.
