Chelsea Target Fullback With 340M Release Clause As They Eye Competition For Reece James

Chelsea and Bayern Munich are both interested in snapping up Barcelona fullback Sergino Dest, according to reports in the Catalan media.

The American international is not a target for the January transfer window, with Barca keen to hold on to him until the summer when they believe they can get a better transfer fee.

However, Dest is high on the list of options with the Blues looking to bring in competition for Reece James in the right wingback role.

Thomas Tuchel’s side did pursue Achraf Hakimi earlier this year, but the Moroccan international decided to make the switch to Paris Saint-Germain instead. It seems like Dest has been identified as a potential alternative.

The 21-year-old was signed from Ajax for €25m in October last year but he was given a five-year contract with a reported buyout clause of €400m (£340m). Even though Barcelona won’t get anywhere near that figure, the La Liga side will be hoping to make a profit on what they paid for the defender.
