Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson is expecting Chelsea to get back to winning ways when they face West Ham at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.
The Blues are coming into the game off the back of a shock 4-2 home defeat to Arsenal but Merson feels Thomas Tuchel’s side will be in luck because the Hammers are distracted by their Europa League campaign:
“West Ham are not going to play their strongest team this weekend and that could play right into Chelsea’s hands. Chelsea have a good squad at their disposal and should be able to win this game.”
Merson has gone for a 2-0 win to Chelsea, which may raise a few eyebrows, considering the Blues have struggled to keep clean sheets in recent weeks.
You wouldn’t bet against Tuchel’s men coming out on top, but it would be a surprise if it is as comfortable as Merson is predicting.
Various issues around the club, such as the takeover and the form of certain players, have led to some erratic performances over the past few games but, it will be hoped, that the team can rediscover their mojo today.
