Roma are weighing up a move for Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, according to Calciomercato.com.
Manager Jose Mourinho has already snapped up Tammy Abraham from the Blues, but the Giallorossi also enquired about Loftus-Cheek when they held negotiations for his teammate.
The Serie A side tried to sign Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka earlier in the summer but failed to agree a transfer fee. They have been trying to secure a deal for Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria and they are, again, struggling to find the €20m (£17m) needed to sign him.
Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto is now considering an offer for Loftus-Cheek, who Chelsea are reportedly willing to let go on loan, with an option to buy for around €16m (£13.7m).
The 25-year-old is not believed to be part of Thomas Tuchel’s first-team plans, with the Blues currently in negotiations to sign another midfielder, Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez, before the transfer deadline on Tuesday.
