Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt next summer.
The Netherlands international is tipped to leave Italy for a fee below €100m (£83m) but fans on Twitter are very much split on whether the centre-back is good enough for the Blues:
This would be great player for us

I think Nicolas Sule is better option he will be free agent in summer

Too expensive. I’d rather have Koulibaly for peanuts. Experience is everything.

De Ligt hasn’t exactly set the world alight in Italy, with his performances for Juve over the past two and a half years having been unconvincing, to say the least.
With the Dutchman’s agent being Mino Raiola as well, you have to wonder whether Chelsea would actually be interested in dealing with a person they have had run-ins with in the past.
There are other considerations, though. With Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger all potentially leaving Stamford Bridge, manager Thomas Tuchel may need to sign more than one centre-half.
Sevilla’s Jules Kounde and Leicester’s Wesley Fofana are thought to be on the radar but de Ligt is a similar age to those players so it wouldn’t be surprising if he is also being looked at.
