Ian Wright Predicts Liverpool Rout If United Fail To Address Key Problem Ahead Of Anfield Clash

BBC pundit Ian Wright expects Liverpool to thrash Manchester United if the Red Devils defend like they did against Norwich City yesterday.

A Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick helped Ralf Rangnick’s men to a narrow 3-2 win at Old Trafford but Wright raised big concerns about their defending:

“We’re talking about a team at the bottom of the league [Norwich] who gave United two goals today, literally. And they’re still able to open United up. If United play like that against Liverpool they’re going to get absolutely hammered.”

While it is fair to say that United are in pretty poor shape at the moment, derbies don’t tend to go with the form book, so the clash at Anfield on Tuesday night is not guaranteed to be an open affair.

If it does turn into a slugfest, with attacking football the main focus, then you would back Liverpool to come out on top every day of the week, particularly at home.

The Reds have the extra motivation of knowing that they could go top of the Premier League, for 24 hours at least, if they win, with Manchester City in action on Wednesday against Brighton.
