Liverpool blessed with fully-fit squad for Benfica clash

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that he has all of his players available for Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final first leg with Benfica at the Estadio da Luz.

Trent Alexander-Arnold made a quicker than expected return from a hamstring injury for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Watford, where Naby Keita missed out due to a knee issue.

Curtis Jones and Joel Matip also ended that game with ankle and head knocks respectively, but Klopp issued a positive team news update to the media ahead of the trip to Portugal.

“We have a full squad available, absolutely,” Klopp told a press conference. “Curtis was just a little swelling, disappeared overnight. Same as Joel, which was helpful because it looked really strange.

“Trent [Alexander-Arnold] trained now four or five days, not sure exactly but yes, he’s ready as well.”

Liverpool will be out to equal a club record of five consecutive Champions League away wins on Tuesday evening and head into the game on the back of a 2-0 success over Watford in the top flight.
