The midfielder has become an increasingly integral figure over the past three years and some fans on Twitter even think he is a candidate to take over the captaincy from James Tavernier:

Tavernier has been heavily linked with a move back to England with a number of clubs, including Newcastle and Aston Villa, said to be interested in him.
If the right-back were to depart then Jack would be an obvious candidate to succeed him both due to his commanding presence in midfield and the fact he is a trusted lieutenant of manager Steven Gerrard.
The Scottish international is one of the first names on the teammate for the Gers boss and if he were to be named captain in the future, the vast majority of supporters would likely back the decision.
