“He Should Look At Himself” Chris Sutton Blasts West Ham Target As He Ponders Summer Switch

BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton has criticised Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford amid reports he is seeking to leave Old Trafford.

West Ham, Arsenal and Newcastle have been mentioned as potential destinations for the England international, who is reportedly considering his future at the Red Devils due to a lack of game time. Sutton says the player only has himself to blame for being left out by manager Ralf Rangnick:

“Reports say he wants out. If that’s the case, off you pop. If Rashford wants someone to blame for his career going downhill, he should look at himself. Ronaldo and Cavani were missing, yet he didn’t start. Ask yourself why.”

It would be a massive coup if the Hammers were able to secure Rashford’s signature but a lot would have to go in the London club’s favour for a deal to happen.

The 24-year-old’s current deal expires next year but, crucially, United have an option to extend for a further season so he won’t be cheap. Considering West Ham were prepared to pay £50m+ for the likes of Darwin Nunez and Raphinha in the January transfer window, that shouldn’t be a problem.

Another factor to consider is whether David Moyes’ side finish in the top four. Rashford would likely be more inclined to make the switch to the London Stadium if there is Champions League football. We shall see how this transfer story develops.
