Jesse Lingard’s recent form dip has got some West Ham supporters questioning whether the club should invest heavily in signing him on a permanent basis from Manchester United.
The 28-year-old has not scored in his last five games, following a purple patch after his arrival at London Stadium, and when asked to value the England international, fans on Twitter came up with some wildly different estimates:
Whatever it takes

Most I’d pay is 15. He was in the best form of his life this year, and I don’t think it’s sustainable at all. Also, he is 29 and has 1 year left on his contract.

17 million, I want Pereira over him anyways

20-25

20 I think, we can’t eat into our budget too much there’s too many important areas to fill

10-15M on the basis he doesn’t fit with Moyes ‘young & hungry’ criteria.

35m

30m is fair.

15 is a fair price. 28 odd years old. Form has dipped. 1 year left on his contract. Anything more, I would start looking at pereira

Lingard will undoubtedly be in demand this summer, with some reports indicating that the likes of Arsenal could get involved in the race for the forward’s signature.
However, considering how well he has performed since his move in February, the Hammers would be the strong favourites for his signature, if they do make an offer for him.
Reports suggest that United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hold face to face talks with Lingard about his future at the end of this month, so we should have more clarity on the player’s future very soon.
