Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis missed a last-minute penalty as the Hoops drew a blank against Livingston at the weekend.
Fans on Twitter weren’t just unhappy with the fact that the Greek international failed to convert the spot-kick but also because he struggled to make an impact on the game throughout the 90 minutes:
Guy was horrific whole game

He could have had 2 penalties and had played 180 mins and still wouldn’t have scored 🤦♂️

I honestly forgot he was on the pitch until he took the penalty.

Man did nothing all game and bottled it right at the end. We really need to just let Juranović take them from now on.

It wasn’t a particularly impressive display from Giakoumakis and he will have to improve a lot if he wants to get regular game time as the central striker ahead of Kyogo Furuhashi.
The 26-year-old failed to trouble Livingston’s defence and that is a concern considering the match was perfectly set up for him to make the difference against a stubborn opponent.
It is also unlikely that Giakoumakis will be given the responsibility from the spot again anytime soon by manager Ange Postecoglou. Fullback Josip Juranovic has scored both of his attempts from 12 yards out against Real Betis and St Johnstone so he will definitely be back on penalty duties next time.
