Liverpool supporters have been discussing the surprise news that Tottenham are closing in on the appointment of former Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte.
The 52-year-old has been heavily linked with replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United over the past week and many Liverpool fans on Twitter are glad that the Italian could be heading to Spurs instead:
At least he’s not going to utd 🤣

He’ll certainly shake things up. Won’t stay long . Can imagine he’ll clash with Levy as well. Interesting times ahead

Problem for us, great for them.

I think he’ll stable the ship and make them really hard to beat. Son and Kane up front as a two could be lethal.

I’d have been concerned had he gone to Utd with the players they have but Spurs simply don’t have good enough players!

While his potential appointment at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will shake things up, it shouldn’t really have an impact on the Reds, in the short term at least.
Spurs are unlikely to be challenging for honours anytime soon and, while Liverpool’s two league fixtures against the North London club will probably prove to be much tougher affairs, Conte’s arrival is unlikely to have any bearing on the title race.
The Reds currently find themselves three points behind Chelsea at the top of the table, with Tottenham sitting in eighth place, having won five and lost five this campaign.
