While the headlines were deservedly stolen by Kyogo Furuhashi for his brace in Celtic’s 2-1 win over Hibernian, it masked what was a pretty poor performance from Carl Starfelt at Hampden Park.
The Swedish international did not cope well with Kevin Nisbet and his defensive deficiencies could well have cost Ange Postecoglou his first piece of silverware as Hoops boss.
As it was, Starfelt’s display will go down as nothing more than a footnote, but supporters on Twitter are not prepared to let the centre-back off the hook that easily:
Shocking at times

He’s a liability defensively. Don’t know why people think he’s good enough.

Aye was back at August levels. Let’s hope it was a one off and he gets back to recent form levels. He’ll need to

Very poor today, but everyone has a bad game. He just had it at the wrong time

Starfelt single handedly trying to give us all a heart attack

It had looked like that Starfelt had turned a corner after a shaky start to his time at Celtic Park but it does appear that he is the type of player who will simply throw in a bad game on the odd occasion.
The 26-year-old didn’t cost his team yesterday but it’s definitely something fans will be worried about going forward heading into a pivotal stage of the season.
