Despite providing two assists against St Mirren in the 2-1 win on Wednesday night, some supporters have been pretty disappointed with Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie’s start to the season.
His inconsistency appears to be the major bone of contention among fans on Twitter, who believe the 25-year-old is much better than the performances he is currently putting in on the pitch:

Erratic, but he deserves credit for the effort he’s putting in, nobody is outworking him, if some other players had his energy levels we’d be in a better spot.

Don’t know why he gets as much stick. He always give 100% and does a lot of good. I would take him off corners though, they have got a bit better but over or under hits a lot of them.

Somethings not right with either his head, his feet or the coaching. Has potential but seems to be going backwards. Of course he gets assists. He takes almost every set piece.

His decision making at times can be poor, and he needs to learn to pass the ball more often and there is no i in the word team.

He’s like pretty much the rest o them…. struggled with consistency!! How can you go from giving Ross County a doing albeit with some lapses at the back to that drivel the other night?? It’s getting by but not pretty to watch!!? Here’s hoping for better tomorrow ?

Been okay.Nothing spectacular same as all the players.Maybe should have done better for the goal the other night but two assists so okay.

Even against St Mirren, there were a number of poor crosses into the box, despite delivering the pass for James Forrest’s header, as well as winning the penalty.
After scoring 19 goals and providing 16 assists in 43 appearances last campaign, the expectation levels for Christie are much higher this season and he will need to put up with every performance being scrutinised.
The Scottish international will, no doubt, play an important role in the Hoops’ attempts to win the Scottish club’s tenth league title in a row, but it will be hoped that his end product and decision making improve in upcoming matches.
