Celtic And Arsenal Dealt Transfer Blow With Keeper Already In Spain Ahead Of Deal Being Finalised

Brighton goalkeeper Maty Ryan is already in Spain ahead of completing his move to Real Sociedad, according to reports in the Catalan media.

There were hopes last week that the Hoops were still in contention to sign the Australian international after the 29-year-old replied cryptically to a question about a move to Scotland.

However, if these latest reports from Spain turn out to be true then it seems very likely that Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has missed out on a potential signing.

Other teams, including Arsenal, were also thought to be keen on Ryan, but Brighton are said to have agreed to offload the keeper on a free transfer, with €1.1m being paid in add-ons once certain conditions are met.

That would have been a bargain deal for Celtic, but it appears that there will be no new addition between the sticks ahead of the important Champions League qualifier against FC Midtjylland next week.
