Celtic Have Four Names On Their List Of Targets Ahead Of The Next Transfer Window

Transfer News: Chelsea have four defenders shortlisted for next season

According to news from Daily Star, Chelsea have shortlisted four names for the summer transfer window as they aim to add a centre-back to their side. Apparently, it is one area that manager Thomas Tuchel wants to strengthen going into the new season.

The club have conceded just twice in the 13 games they have played under Tuchel. The likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger have been impressive, backed by the reliable Edouard Mendy.

However, with Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva ageing and Antonio Rudiger’s future still uncertain, it looks more reasonable to add to the defensive ranks.

The club have identified four players namely David Alaba, Niklas Sule, Ibrahima Konate and Jose Maria Gimenez to shore up their defence next season.

Manager Neil Lennon has already stated that he wants to sit down with Southampton to see if they can secure agreements for Elyounoussi and Forster, while the links with Hickey have been persistent for the past few months.

However, the link to Olise is a new development. Head of Football Operations Nicky Hammond is aware of the France Under 18 international’s talent having spent some time at the Royals himself.

The 18-year-old moved from Chelsea’s academy in 2015, before making his first-team debut for the English Championship club at the back end of last season.

Olise has gone on to make 14 appearances for Reading this campaign, having played in a number of different positions, including on the right-wing, on the left flank as well as in the number 10 role.
