Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell is still weighing up whether to leave the Ligue One club, according to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna.

The French reporter claims both Manchester United and Chelsea are possible destinations for the former Tottenham chief scout:

Ralf Rangnick knows Mitchell well after working alongside him at the Red Bull Group so a move back to Manchester could be tempting for the 40-year-old, who was born in the city.

Aouna believes that one of the three consortiums vying to buy Chelsea have also earmarked Mitchell for a role at Stamford Bridge but that offer does, of course, depend on them winning the bid for the Blues.

Mitchell may also feel that his job at Monaco is not yet done. The French side have been tightening their purse strings due to Financial Fairplay rules but owner Dmitri Rybolovlev is now hoping to spend big once again, and Mitchell’s expertise is very much appreciated by the Russian businessman. We shall have to wait and see what the Englishman ends up deciding to do.
