Napoli have rejected a €30m (£26m) offer from Manchester United for centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Italian publications claims that, despite the player being keen to leave the Serie A side, the club’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis has decided that there will be “no end of the season sales.”

Gazzetta report that, in reality, Koulibaly is available, but Napoli are looking for a better offer. It has been stated by other sources that the 30-year-old has a €50m (£34m) valuation, but that it is not a price that the Red Devils, or possible rival suitors like Liverpool and Manchester City, would consider matching.

It is very likely that the Senegalese international was being considered as a cheaper alternative for Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane, but it does seem as though a move for the Frenchman is making good progress.

Personal terms with the defender have reportedly been agreed and it will now come down to the two clubs reaching a compromise on the transfer fee.
