The agent of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has refused to be drawn on speculation that Manchester United and Arsenal are interested in signing his player.
Italian media reports in recent days have claimed that both teams have been scouting the Nigerian, with Napoli said to have slapped a €120m (£100m) price tag on the forward. When asked about the stories, Roberto Calenda said Osimhen’s focus is only on the current season:
“The boy is focused, he wants to win and we have all seen his attachment to the team, how to throw each ball. Now he plays in a strong team. Newspapers rightly need to be filled in and written. Even those who don’t know football would probably [know] Osimhen’s if asked for the names of strikers. Victor is a football player [with] Napoli and now there are 7 finals; the important focus is on this season.”
Osimhen is definitely the type of striker that United will be looking at in the summer. He is only 23 years of age, so his best years are ahead of him, unlike the club’s current forward options.
On top of that, the Nigerian international has a great deal of pace, and he has demonstrated he can score goals in Italy and France. Whether he is worth £100m, though, is another matter. There are players, such as Benfica’s Darwin Nunez who are available for a lot less.
