Report Claims 35M Jackpot Could Allow Rangers Star To Stay At Ibrox Beyond The Summer

Rangers centre-back Connor Goldson could yet sign a new contract if the club qualify for the group stages of the Champions League, according to the Daily Express.

The Bears will need to win a second consecutive title to automatically qualify for the group phase next season, which could earn the Scottish side as much as £35m.

That money would then allow the Gers to offer Goldson the type of contract he has been demanding. Up until now, no agreement has been reached between the two parties and, with the player now within the final six months of his current deal, he can talk to foreign clubs about a free transfer in the summer.

English Championship sides West Brom and Nottingham Forest, as well as one other unnamed team, are said to be keen on signing the 29-year-old.

As things stand, though, it seems Goldson will remain patient to see whether Rangers can win title number 56.
