Celtic centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers has not ruled out a permanent move to Parkhead once his loan deal with the Hoops expires in the summer.

Ange Postecoglou’s side don’t have the option to buy the American international but, when asked if he would consider staying at the Scottish club, the defender replied:

“It is something I am open to, but I haven’t given it much thought at this stage, to be fair. I still have plenty of games left in this season and that is my focus. I have really enjoyed it. The staff and the players have been really good with me and that’s helped me.”

Carter-Vickers has certainly improved as the season has gone on but, whether he will be able to put in the type of performances that will convince Celtic to shell out on him next year, we shall see.

Tottenham were reportedly demanding around £5m for the 23-year-old last summer, which would be a substantial outlay for the Hoops. It will be interesting to see how regularly he features once Christopher Jullien has returned to full fitness.

The Frenchman has been out for a year with a knee injury but he is close to making his comeback. If the centre-half strikes up a partnership with Carl Starfelt, it may lead to Carter-Vickers spending more time on the bench, which could dampen his enthusiasm about moving to Celtic Park permanently.
