Celtic midfielder Ismaila Soro was handed his first league start of the season against Kilmarnock in the 2-0 win yesterday and he was one of the Hoops’ standout players.
The 22-year-old has struggled for game time since arriving from Bnei Yehuda last January but, after grabbing his chance versus Lille on Thursday, he was named in the starting line up once more at the weekend.
Soro was excellent in breaking up play and protecting the backline as the Scottish champions secured a precious league win. Supporters on Twitter have been asking why the Ivorian hadn’t been starting games more often:
Hes fantastic what a player ?

He plays like a younger Broony

Even when he had played 5mins ( only had 37mins before Thursday) here and there he had shown what he was going to play like – he’s looking great ??

Such a strange 1. Taken for us to fall apart for him to get a sniff in a meaningless game against Lille. Takes his chance, now a must starter.

I’m judging. The player I seen in the videos before he came and the player I’ve seen in the last 2 games are the same player. There is no reason why he wouldn’t have improved our midfield this season.

This guy is brilliant!! But I feel it’s the old pals act with Lenny, I hope I’m wrong but I have a horrible feeling he will make changes for the cup final

He’s been top class since he came in. Can’t fault the guy, really want to see him get a run of games

Manager Neil Lennon has been rather hesitant about rotating his squad; most likely because he didn’t trust other players to do the job required. However, Soro and the likes of Conor Hazard and David Turnbull have all shown they are up to the task. Whether that realisation has come too late to rescue the club’s season, it remains to be seen.
