Celtic legend Kenny Dalglish is backing Ange Postecoglou’s plans to raid the Far East for more hidden gems after the success of Kyogo Furuhashi.

The Japanese international has been in excellent form since his £4.6m arrival from Vissel Kobe back in July and Dalglish says that, if there are similar signings on the horizon, it can only be a good thing:

“A huge part of the Hoops’ success is down to Kyogo Furuhashi. He is an outstanding footballer. The wee Japanese striker scored in Hungary on Thursday night, and his general contribution was very solid. I believe he was bought for around £4.5-million, and that is already looking to be a brilliant piece of business.”

“Ange knew Kyogo from his time in the Japanese J-League, and it’s understood the Australian has his eye on one or two others from that part of the world. To me, that seems to make perfect sense.”

The three players from the Far East who are the likeliest to join the Hoops are thought to be Kawasaki Frontale left-back Reo Hatate, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors winger Song Min-kyu and Yokohama F Marinos forward Daizen Maeda.

Hatate seems to be the deal closest to being finalised with reports on Friday having indicated that Celtic have already held talks with the 23-year-old’s agent ahead of a free transfer move in the New Year.

There is less concrete information on Maeda or Min-kyu but Postecoglou has confirmed that plans are underway to bring in more reinforcements in the January transfer window.
