Former Celtic midfielder Paul Lambert has questioned whether striker Odsonne Edouard will get his move to a Premier League club following his poor performances for the Hoops this season.

Reports suggest that the Frenchman is unlikely to sign a new contract at Parkhead, with the likes of Arsenal, Leicester an AC Milan all said to be keen on signing the 22-year-old in the summer.

However, Lambert has questioned Edouard’s attitude, and he believes the forward’s failure to be a talismanic figure for the Scottish champions this campaign will lead to potential suitors questioning whether they should make an offer for him:

“Maybe too many of them have their sights set on moving away. They might just find the moves they thought they might have lined up might not be there after how they have performed this season. Edouard, as an example, probably has an eye on moving to the Premier League.”

“Does he ever think managers down there might wonder why he seems to have looked just so disinterested this season and maybe think he might not be what you want when you are in the trenches? I’m maybe being slightly unfair namechecking him and not others, however, I think it is fair to say he should be Celtic’s talisman and he hasn’t delivered.”

Lambert certainly doesn’t hold back in his criticism of Edouard but, as he himself points out, it is a bit unfair simply singling out the France Under 21 international, when so many other Celtic players have underperformed as well.

Edouard’s drop in form may also be concerning from a financial perspective, with reports indicating that Celtic may drop their asking price to £25m.
