There are currently no plans to sell Celtic striker Albian Ajeti in the January transfer window, according to reports in the UK.

It was widely expected that the Swiss international would be sold, with the striker having started just three league games under manager Ange Postecoglou.

However, it seems that the Hoops won’t be actively looking to offload Ajeti, who has struggled, for the most part, since he arrived from West Ham for £5m in August last year.

Probably the key reason why Celtic are not focused on selling Ajeti is due to the club’s injury crisis. Giorgos Giakoumakis has not been able to stay fit due to knee problems, while Kyogo Furuhashi has had his own issues.

Of course, Ajeti has been no stranger to the treatment table himself but it appears that Postecoglou wants to keep him around as an emergency backup, just in case he is needed in the future.
