Ex-Celtic defender Mark Wilson has raised concerns about the recent performances of Hoops pair Liel Abada and Jota.

Both wingers started the 0-0 draw against Hibernian at the weekend, but they failed to really make an impact on the game at Easter Road, and Wilson is worried about the drop off in form from the two players:

“They were pretty toothless in front of goal [versus Hibs], so that will be a concern for [Ange] Postecoglou. Especially in the wide areas. Jota and Abada have been so good this season, creating and chipping in with goals. They were so quiet on Sunday. Jota flitted in and out.”

Jota has only provided one assist in all competitions since he bagged a brace in the 3-2 victory over Aberdeen early last month, while Abada has not got on the scoresheet in his last six appearances, so Wilson does have a point.

Considering Jota is 22 and Abada has only just turned 20 years of age, inconsistent form is to be expected from such young players, and they will have their off days.

Ange Postecoglou will, however, be hoping that the pair spring back into life very soon to keep Celtic’s title challenge on the right track. We will see if they can return to their best against St Mirren tomorrow night.
