A Celtic fan has shared a picture of himself with Jota before Benfica’s game against Liverpool on Wednesday night.
The 23-year-old is on loan from the Portuguese side and it seems he was at Anfield to see his parent club in action. Fans on Twitter were concerned that it may suggest that the winger will be going back to Portugal in the summer:
Right why is he down there 😭😭😭😭

He’ll be back with his boyhood team next season. Fair play to him. Let’s be honest, he’s seen Maeda up close and knows the left wing position isn’t available anymore. 😌

Celtic do have the option to sign Jota for approximately £6.5m at the end of the campaign, but the final decision will be down to the player.
Benfica will have a new manager in place, Roger Schmidt, for the beginning of next season and Jota may feel that he can impress his new head coach and earn his place back in the first team.
If it comes to that, Hoops supporters will be very disappointed to see the player leave. Since arriving in Scotland, he has performed superbly, scoring 10 goals and contributing 11 assists in 34 appearances for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
