Liverpool are still hopeful that Sporting Director Michael Edwards will stay with the Reds, according to the Daily Mail‘s Northern Football correspondent Dominic King.
The journalist, who is usually reliable when it comes to stories related to the Merseyside club, has taken to Twitter to address claims that RB Leipzig are interested in appointing Edwards:
Reports in Germany about RB Leipzig wanting Michael Edwards as their new Sporting Director. Clear why they – and many, many other clubs around Europe – would want him but still not beyond the realms of possibility he signs a new contract to stay at Anfield 🔴

Reports in Germany suggest that talks between Leipzig and Edwards became more concrete a few weeks ago and that there is even a possibility he could move to Germany as early as the New Year.
King has not, by any means, played down the speculation, although it seems he has heard nothing about the prospect of Edwards leaving Anfield in January.
Liverpool do have a contingency plan already in place if Edwards does depart. Julian Ward has been appointed as Assistant Sporting Director and the expectation is that he will be next in line to take the main role.
