Liverpool, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain could all challenge Arsenal in the race to sign Martin Odegaard on a permanent basis this summer, according to the Daily Star.
The Norwegian international is currently on loan at the Emirates from Real Madrid until the end of the season but the Gunners don’t have an option to buy the player.
With Odegaard putting in some good performances since his arrival in January, his asking price has reportedly increased to £50m, which may prove too costly for the Gunners.
Were that to be the case, the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea could swoop in. The Reds may well be looking at bringing in a playmaker and Odegaard is the right age at 22 to be a legitimate target.
Whether manager Jurgen Klopp sees the Norwegian as a priority, though, we shall see. It is believed the Premier League champions have set their sights on a new centre-back and another forward this summer so signing a midfielder like Odegaard may not be their main objective.
