Liverpool are likely to table a pre-contract agreement to Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, according to reports in the Italian media.
The Croatian international is out of contract next June and will be available on a free transfer, unless Inter can agree a new deal with the player.
Brozovic was integral to the Nerazzurri winning the Serie A title last season and the Italian club remain hopeful that the 28-year-old will put pen to paper on an extension.
They believe a proposal worth €5m a season, plus bonuses, will be enough to satisfy the Croatian’s demands but the involvement of Liverpool could complicate matters.
It is thought that the Reds would be prepared to pay Brozovic €7m a year (around £115,000 a week), with manager Jurgen Klopp said to be keen on reinforcing his options in the middle of the park.
The midfielder has been linked with the Merseyside club, as well as Manchester United, on and off over the last few years, so we shall see if anything develops from this story.
