Liverpool have “asked” Juventus about the availability of winger Federico Chiesa, according to reports in the Italian media.
The 23-year-old has scored two goals in six appearances for Italy at the European Championships, including the opener against Spain in the semi-final earlier this week.
However, Jurgen Klopp side’s interest in Chiesa is not simply due to the Italian’s performances this summer. They have kept tabs on the player for a while, having reportedly missed out on signing him when he decided to join Juve back in October.
Now, with Chiesa performing so well for his country, his value has increased even further, with Juventus expected to demand €90m (£77m) from any team looking to take the winger off their hands.
It is believed Jadon Sancho’s £73m move to Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund has been used as a barometer for Chiesa’s valuation. It is unlikely that Liverpool will opt to firm up their interest now they know the player’s asking price.
