Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen believes Divock Origi’s last-minute winner against Wolves on Saturday may prove crucial in the race for the Premier League title.
With Manchester City and Chelsea expected to make it a very close battle to finish top this season, every point could be vital, and Owen sees the Wolves win as a big one for the Reds:
“This title run could be decided by one or two points. There’s two points there gained in the blink of an eye. It could be absolutely massive come the end of the season.”
Jurgen Klopp’s side had missed a number of chances at Molineux and supporters were beginning to think it simply wasn’t going to be their day, before Origi finished from close range.
The Belgian has developed a knack for scoring crucial goals during his Liverpool career, and Klopp described the forward as a “legend” following the game.
Of course, the dramatic win won’t mean that much if the Reds don’t follow it up over the next few weeks. They play Aston Villa in the league on Saturday; a match that will see the return of Steven Gerrard to Anfield.
